The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0201s). The committee's amendment (0201s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 12, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On February 12, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 4, 2015 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 24, 2015. The committee met in executive session on March 26, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1113h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1113h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 15, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On April 15, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 30, 2015 the Senate adopted “Sen. Birdsell Concurs with House Amendment #1113h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 7, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. It became law without the governor's signature, as Chapter 126. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
