The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 18, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 12, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 12, 2015 and was referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2015. The committee met in executive session on April 21, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1298h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1298h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 29, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On April 29, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 21, 2015 the Senate adopted “Sen. Birdsell Concurs with House Amendment #1298h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 3, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 12, 2015, making it Chapter 151 of the session laws. It took effect on June 12, 2015.
