SB 84 (2015)

relative to the definition of "telemedicine."

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Public and Mental Health
  • Chapter law: 246

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 20, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 12, 2015 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sanborn. On March 12, 2015 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. On March 12, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 12, 2015 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 26, 2015. The committee held work sessions on April 9, 2015, April 14, 2015 and April 16, 2015. The committee met in executive session on April 28, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 21–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1332h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1332h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 6, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On May 6, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 14, 2015 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sanborn. On June 3, 2015 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for Committee of Conference (Rep Kotowski)” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 9, 2015 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. The House adopted the conference report (2107c) on a voice vote. The Senate adopted the conference report (2107c) on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 15, 2015, making it Chapter 246 of the session laws.
