The Story

The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0700s). The committee's amendment (0700s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 12, 2015, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (2015-0843s), offered by Sen. D’Allesandro, was rejected on a roll call 9–15 on March 12, 2015. A floor amendment (2015-0841s), offered by Sen. David Watters, was rejected on a roll call 10–14 on March 12, 2015. On March 12, 2015 the Senate adopted “Reconsideration of vote on Floor Amendment 0843s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. A floor amendment (0843s), offered by Sen. D’Allesandro, was rejected on a roll call 10–14 on March 12, 2015. On March 12, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 16–8 and ordered it to a third reading. The committee held work sessions on April 9, 2015, April 21, 2015 and April 22, 2015. The committee met in executive session on April 30, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1501h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 13–10. The report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (1501h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 6, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On May 6, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 14, 2015 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. On June 3, 2015 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for Committee of Conference (Rep Kurk)” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 10, 2015, June 12, 2015, June 15, 2015 and June 18, 2015 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill.
