The Story
It was introduced on February 12, 2015 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 3, 2015. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 19, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2015. The committee held a work session on May 28, 2015. The committee met in executive session on May 28, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1958h), and the minority recommended that the House pass it, by a vote of 9–8. The report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (1958h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 3, 2015 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for Committee of Conference (Rep Major)” on a voice vote. On June 4, 2015 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Prescott. A committee of conference met on June 16, 2015 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill.
