The Story
It was introduced on February 12, 2015 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 18, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 26, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 21, 2015, which included a proposed non-germane amendment (2015-1347h). The committee met in executive session on May 12, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1510h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1510h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 4, 2015 the Senate adopted “Sen. Birdsell Concurs with House Amendment #1510h, NT” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 11, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 30, 2015, making it Chapter 182 of the session laws. It took effect on June 26, 2015.
