The Story

It was introduced on February 12, 2015 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 11, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0830s). The committee's amendment (0830s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 19, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 19, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 2015. The committee met in executive session on April 16, 2015 and April 29, 2015. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 3, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 6, 2015, making it Chapter 217 of the session laws. It took effect on July 6, 2015.
