The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 2, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0625s). The committee's amendment (0625s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 12, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 12, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0998s). The committee's amendment (0998s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 26, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 26, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held public hearings on April 9, 2015, April 14, 2015 and April 28, 2015. The committee held a work session on May 5, 2015. The committee met in executive session on May 21, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it, by a vote of 9–7. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On June 3, 2015 the House rejected a motion to kill it on a division vote 122–180. On June 3, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 11, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 30, 2015, making it Chapter 181 of the session laws. It took effect on June 26, 2015.
