The Story
It was introduced on January 29, 2015 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0715s). The committee's amendment (0715s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 12, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 12, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 24–0, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 26, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a roll call 23–0 and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 9, 2015. The committee held a work session on April 23, 2015. The committee met in executive session on April 28, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 19–2 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1424h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1424h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 6, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On May 6, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 3, 2015 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for Committee of Conference (Rep Hinch)” on a voice vote. On June 4, 2015 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sanborn. A committee of conference met on June 17, 2015 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. The House adopted the conference report (2313c) on a roll call 249–103. The Senate adopted the conference report (2313c) on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 15, 2015, making it Chapter 250 of the session laws.
