SB 119 (2015)

relative to the regulation of consumer guaranty contracts by the insurance department and guaranteed asset protection waivers by the banking department.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Commerce
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 207

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 20, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0706s). The committee's amendment (0706s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 12, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 12, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 12, 2015 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2015. The committee held work sessions on April 8, 2015 and May 5, 2015. The committee met in executive session on May 12, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1343h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1343h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 4, 2015 the Senate adopted “Sen. Prescott Concurs with House Amendment #1343h, NT” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2015-2126) was adopted on a voice vote on June 11, 2015. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2015-2126e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 6, 2015, making it Chapter 207 of the session laws. It took effect on September 4, 2015.
