SB 111 (2015)

making changes to the life and health insurance guaranty association.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Commerce
  • Subject: Insurance
  • Chapter law: 205

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 17, 2015. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1008s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1008s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 26, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 26, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 8, 2015. The committee held a work session on April 8, 2015. The committee met in executive session on May 12, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 17–2 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 3, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2015-2133) was adopted on a voice vote on June 11, 2015. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2015-2133e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 6, 2015, making it Chapter 205 of the session laws. It took effect on September 4, 2015.
