  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 5, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0508s). The committee's amendment (0508s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 5, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 5, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. On March 19, 2015 the Senate rejected a motion to kill it on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2015-1012s), offered by Sen. Pierce, was adopted on a voice vote on March 19, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 19, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 2015. The committee met in executive session on April 7, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 15, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On April 15, 2015 the bill was referred to the Ways and Means committee. The committee held public hearings on April 28, 2015 and May 5, 2015. The committee met in executive session on May 21, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 3, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2015-2110) was adopted on a voice vote on June 11, 2015. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2015-2110e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 6, 2015, making it Chapter 203 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 2015.
