The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 20, 2015. The committee met in executive session on March 5, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 21–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 11, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 19, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 21, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 30, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 7, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. It became law without the governor's signature on June 9, 2015, as Chapter 125. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
