The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 2015. The committee met in executive session on March 3, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0643h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 14–7. The report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (0643h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 11, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 11, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 205–162. It crossed to the Senate on March 19, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1395s). The committee's amendment (1395s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 30, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On April 30, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 3, 2015 the House adopted “House Non-Concurs with Senate Amendment #1395s and Requests Committee of Conference (Rep Major)” on a voice vote. On June 4, 2015 the Senate adopted “Accedes to House Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Boutin. A committee of conference met on June 15, 2015 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill.
