  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2015. The committee met in executive session on March 2, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 11, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 19, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1236s). The committee's amendment (1236s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 9, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On April 9, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 6, 2015 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1236s (Rep A. Christie)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 14, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 2, 2015, making it Chapter 72 of the session laws.
