HB 496-FN-LOCAL (2015)

prohibiting public employers from using criminal history in employment decisions.

  • Status: Died on the table
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
  • Subject: Employment

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 2015. The committee met in executive session on February 17, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0150h), by a vote of 12–8. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 12, 2015 the House voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. The bill died on the table when the session ended on November 18, 2015, having been set aside and never taken back up.
