HB 472 (2015)

relative to the parole board and parole board procedures.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 194

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2015. The committee met in executive session on March 2, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 11, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 19, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 12, 2015. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1860s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1860s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 28, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On May 28, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 3, 2015 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1860s (Rep Tholl)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 6, 2015, making it Chapter 194 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 2015.
