The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 3, 2015. The committee met in executive session on February 11, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 18, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 12, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 24, 2015. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1401s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1401s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 30, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On April 30, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 11, 2015 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1401s (Rep Steven Smith)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 13, 2015, making it Chapter 231 of the session laws.
