The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2015. The committee met in executive session on February 3, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0158h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0158h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 11, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On February 11, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On February 11, 2015 the bill was referred to the Finance committee, whose chair waived the referral under House Rule 46(f). It crossed to the Senate on March 12, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 24, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1949s). The committee's amendment (1949s) was adopted on a voice vote on June 4, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On June 4, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 11, 2015 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1949s (Rep Kotowski)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 13, 2015, making it Chapter 227 of the session laws. It took effect on November 1, 2016.
