The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held public hearings on February 3, 2015, February 9, 2015 and February 17, 2015. The committee met in executive session on March 3, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 21–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0113h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0113h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 11, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 11, 2015 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 19, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1326s). On May 14, 2015 the Senate adopted “Special Order HB 180 to 5/21/15, Without Objection”. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1326s). The committee's amendment (1326s) was rejected on a voice vote on May 21, 2015. On May 21, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 3, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 12, 2015, making it Chapter 133 of the session laws.
