The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 2015 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 20, 2015. The committee met in executive session on January 20, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 4, 2015 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 5, 2015 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 25, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1496s). On May 7, 2015 the Senate adopted “Special Order HB 102 to 5/14/15, Without Objection”. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-1496s). The committee's amendment (1496s) was rejected on a voice vote on May 14, 2015. On May 14, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. On May 14, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 3, 2015 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 12, 2015, making it Chapter 129 of the session laws.
