The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 4, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2014-1090s). The committee's amendment (1090s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 27, 2014, changing the text of the bill. On March 27, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 1, 2014 and was referred to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 10, 2014. The committee held work sessions on April 10, 2014 and May 6, 2014. The committee met in executive session on May 8, 2014 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 23–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On May 14, 2014 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 22, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 14, 2014, making it Chapter 229 of the session laws.
