The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 18, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2014-0635s). The committee's amendment (0635s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 6, 2014, changing the text of the bill. On March 6, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 20, 2014 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 3, 2014. The committee met in executive session on April 22, 2014 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 12–3 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 30, 2014 the House adopted “Third Reading” on a division vote. On April 30, 2014 the House failed “Reconsideration Third Reading (Rep Lambert)” on a roll call 133–202. The bill was enrolled on May 15, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 27, 2014, making it Chapter 145 of the session laws.
