  • Term: 2013-2014
  • House committee: Election Law
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Elections

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 19, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 6, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 20, 2014 and was referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 3, 2014. The committee met in executive session on April 15, 2014 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 23, 2014 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 5, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 11, 2014, making it Chapter 115 of the session laws.
