The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 21, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On January 30, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 19, 2014 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 4, 2014. The committee met in executive session on March 6, 2014 to vote on its recommendation. An enrolled bill amendment (2014-1134e) was adopted on March 13, 2014. These correct technical errors found after passage. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 19, 2014 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on March 27, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1134eba) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on April 8, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 14, 2014, making it Chapter 5 of the session laws. It took effect on April 14, 2014.
