SB 242 (2014)

relative to coverall bingo games.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2013-2014
  • House committee: Ways and Means
  • Senate committee: Ways and Means
  • Subject: Gambling
  • Chapter law: 191

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2014-0504s). The committee's amendment (0504s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 19, 2014, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (2014-0588s), offered by Sen. Odell, was adopted on a voice vote on February 19, 2014, changing the text of the bill. On February 19, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 13, 2014 and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 2014. The committee met in executive session on April 15, 2014 and April 29, 2014. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 7, 2014 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (1822eba) was adopted on a voice vote on May 15, 2014. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 22, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2014-1822e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 11, 2014, making it Chapter 191 of the session laws. It took effect on September 9, 2014.
