The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 23, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2014-0973s). The committee's amendment (0973s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 27, 2014, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (2014-1174s), offered by Sen. Fuller Clark, was rejected on a voice vote on March 27, 2014. On March 27, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 1, 2014 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 8, 2014. The committee met in executive session on April 15, 2014 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 19–1 to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 30, 2014 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
