The committee held a work session on April 17, 2013. The committee met in executive session on April 30, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on August 8, 2013, September 10, 2013, September 24, 2013, October 1, 2013, October 29, 2013 and November 7, 2013. The committee met in executive session on November 7, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 16–2 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2013-2372h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (2372h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 15, 2014, changing the text of the bill. On January 15, 2014 the House adopted “Lay on the Table” on a division vote 190–150, on a motion by Rep. Eaton. The bill died on the table when the session ended on September 17, 2014, having been set aside and never taken back up.
