- Term: 2013-2014
- House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
- Subject: Insurance
The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2013. The committee held work sessions on February 19, 2013 and March 5, 2013. The committee met in executive session on March 5, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 23, 2013, June 11, 2013, September 17, 2013 and October 15, 2013. The committee met in executive session on October 22, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2013-2289h) by a vote of 11–9, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The minority of the committee reported: Refer to Interim Study. The committee's amendment (2289h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 15, 2014, changing the text of the bill. On January 15, 2014 the House adopted “Lay on the Table” on a division vote 198–143, on a motion by Rep. LeBrun. The bill died on the table when the session ended on September 17, 2014, having been set aside and never taken back up.
