HB 297 (2014)
relative to the management of trust funds and capital reserve funds and pertaining to library trustees.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2013-2014
- House committee: Municipal and County Government
- Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
- Subject: Municipalities
- Chapter law: 32
The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 5, 2013. The committee met in executive session on February 21, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0292h), by a vote of 14–1. On March 20, 2013 the House adopted “Recommit” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Porter. The committee met in executive session on March 20, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on October 10, 2013, October 24, 2013 and November 12, 2013. The committee met in executive session on November 12, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2013-2381h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2381h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 8, 2014, changing the text of the bill. On January 8, 2014 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 19, 2014 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 19, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 17, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 30, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 2014, making it Chapter 32 of the session laws. It took effect on July 26, 2014.
