The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 21, 2014. The committee met in executive session on January 28, 2014 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0260h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0260h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 6, 2014, changing the text of the bill. On February 6, 2014 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 19, 2014 and was referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 25, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (2014-1364s), offered by Sen. Hosmer, was rejected on a roll call 11–13 on April 17, 2014. On April 17, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 1, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 2014, making it Chapter 50 of the session laws. It took effect on May 27, 2014.
