The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2014 and referred to the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 6, 2014. The committee met in executive session on March 4, 2014 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 25, 2014 the House voted to pass it as part of its consent calendar, which it adopted on a division vote 282–9. It crossed to the Senate on March 27, 2014 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 23, 2014. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 1, 2014 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 15, 2014 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 11, 2014, making it Chapter 88 of the session laws. It took effect on June 11, 2014.
