- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2013-2014

- Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources

The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-0889s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on March 21, 2013. On March 21, 2013 the Senate adopted “Without Objection Rule 3-17 is Suspended to Allow Non-Germane Amendment 0889s, 2/3 necessary” on a voice vote. The committee's amendment (0889s) was rejected on a voice vote on March 21, 2013. On March 21, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 27, 2013 and was referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 17, 2013. The committee met in executive session on May 1, 2013 and May 14, 2013. The committee voted 18–1 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On May 29, 2013 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 12, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 28, 2013, making it Chapter 158 of the session laws. It took effect on June 28, 2013.
