The Story

It was introduced on February 14, 2013 and referred to the Senate Health, Education and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 5, 2013. It crossed to the House on March 27, 2013 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held public hearings on April 9, 2013 and April 17, 2013. The committee met in executive session on April 23, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 17–2 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on May 8, 2013. On May 8, 2013 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 212–120. The bill was enrolled on May 20, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor.
