SB 185 (2013)

establishing a commission on housing policy and regulation.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2013-2014
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Housing
  • Chapter law: 233

The Story

It was introduced on January 31, 2013 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 20, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-0500s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0500s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 7, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On March 7, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 27, 2013 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. On April 3, 2013 the bill was referred to the Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 24, 2013. The committee met in executive session on April 30, 2013 and May 7, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1476h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1476h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 22, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On May 22, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 6, 2013 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Boutin. An enrolled bill amendment (2179e) was adopted on June 12, 2013. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 26, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2013-2179e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 15, 2013, making it Chapter 233 of the session laws.
