SB 112 (2013)

relative to voters’ guides for proposed constitutional amendments.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2013-2014
  • House committee: Election Law
  • Senate committee: Rules, Enrolled Bills and Internal Affairs
  • Subject: Elections
  • Chapter law: 231

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the Senate Rules, Enrolled Bills and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 6, 2013. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 14, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 27, 2013 and was referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 16, 2013. The committee held work sessions on April 24, 2013 and April 30, 2013. The committee met in executive session on May 28, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1408h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1408h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 5, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On June 5, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 12, 2013 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Precott. The bill was enrolled on June 26, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 15, 2013, making it Chapter 231 of the session laws. It took effect on September 13, 2013.
