The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2013. The committee met in executive session on March 5, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0656h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0656h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 13, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On March 13, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 14, 2013 and was referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 2013. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-1491s). The committee's amendment (1491s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 23, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On May 23, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 5, 2013 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1491s (Rep Butler)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2096e) was adopted on June 12, 2013. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 26, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2013-2096e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 12, 2013, making it Chapter 221 of the session laws.
