The Story

The committee met in executive session on March 5, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 19–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0598h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0598h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 13, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On March 13, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 14, 2013 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 17, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-1625s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1625s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 23, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On May 23, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 5, 2013 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1625s (Rep Porter)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 14, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 9, 2013, making it Chapter 202 of the session laws.
