The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 26, 2013. The committee met in executive session on March 5, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0735h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0735h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 13, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On March 13, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 2013 and was referred to the Senate Health, Education and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-1212s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1212s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 18, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On April 18, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 8, 2013 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1212s (Rep J.MacKay)” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (1681e) was adopted on May 23, 2013. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 30, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2013-1681e) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 25, 2013, making it Chapter 112 of the session laws.
