  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2013-2014
  • House committee: Judiciary
  • Senate committee: Transportation
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 16

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2013. The committee met in executive session on February 12, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0265h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0265h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 20, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On February 20, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 19, 2013. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 28, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 3, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 9, 2013, making it Chapter 16 of the session laws.
