The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2013. The committee met in executive session on February 12, 2013, February 14, 2013, February 19, 2013 and February 20, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0466h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0466h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 13, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On March 13, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 28, 2013 and was referred to the Senate Rules, Enrolled Bills and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 2013. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-1409s). The committee's amendment (1409s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 23, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On May 23, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 5, 2013 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1409s (Rep G.Richardson)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 14, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 10, 2013, making it Chapter 211 of the session laws.
