The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held public hearings on February 7, 2013 and February 22, 2013. The committee met in executive session on March 5, 2013 and March 7, 2013. The committee voted 17–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 0720h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (0720h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 20, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On March 20, 2013 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 2013 and was referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 18, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 24, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 16, 2013, making it Chapter 28 of the session laws.
