The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 23, 2013. The committee met in executive session on January 29, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 14–4 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On February 6, 2013 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 14, 2013 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 13, 2013. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-1147s). The committee's amendment (1147s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 23, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On May 23, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 5, 2013 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1147s (Rep Weber)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 14, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 2, 2013, making it Chapter 174 of the session laws.
