  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2013-2014
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Municipalities
  • Chapter law: 115

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2013 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 24, 2013. The committee met in executive session on January 30, 2013 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 11–4 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On February 13, 2013 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 14, 2013 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 20, 2013. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2013-1076s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1076s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 28, 2013, changing the text of the bill. On March 28, 2013 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 22, 2013 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate AM #1076s (Rep Porter)” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 30, 2013 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 25, 2013, making it Chapter 115 of the session laws.
