The Story
It was introduced on January 25, 2012 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-1408s). The committee's amendment (1408) was adopted on a voice vote on March 28, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On March 28, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 29, 2012 and was referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 10, 2012. The committee met in executive session on May 8, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2124h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (2124h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 15, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On May 15, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a division vote 296–26. On May 23, 2012 the Senate adopted “Sen. Bradley Concurs with House Amendment #2124h” on a voice vote. An enrolled bill amendment (2483e) was adopted on June 6, 2012. These correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 18, 2012, making it Chapter 234 of the session laws. It took effect on August 17, 2012.
