SB 400 (2012)

including owls within the definition of raptor for the purpose of falconry.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Fish and Game and Marine Resources
  • Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
  • Subject: Fish & Game

The Story

It was introduced on January 25, 2012 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 16, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 7, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 8, 2012 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Fish and Game and Marine Resources committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 24, 2012. The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 9, 2012 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
