The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-0701s). The committee's amendment (0701s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 7, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On March 7, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 8, 2012 and was referred to the House Transportation committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Public Works and Highways committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2012. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2012 on a proposed non-germane amendment (2012-1524h). The committee voted unanimously, 12–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1571h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (1571h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 25, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On April 25, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 9, 2012 the Senate adopted “Sen. Rausch Concurs with House Amendment 1571h, NT” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 29, 2012, making it Chapter 106 of the session laws.
