SB 288 (2012)

relative to medical records and patient information.

  • Term: 2011-2012
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Public and Mental Health
  • Chapter law: 184

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 9, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 7, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 8, 2012 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2012. The committee held work sessions on April 24, 2012, May 1, 2012 and May 8, 2012. The committee met in executive session on May 8, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1943h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1943h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 15, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On May 15, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 23, 2012 the Senate adopted “Sen. Bradley Concurs with House Amendment #1943h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 5, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 11, 2012, making it Chapter 184 of the session laws. It took effect on June 11, 2012.
