The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 5, 2012. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2012-1056s). The committee's amendment (1056s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 7, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On March 7, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 8, 2012 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2012. The committee held a work session on April 3, 2012. The committee met in executive session on April 10, 2012 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1567h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1567h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 25, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On April 25, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 9, 2012 the Senate adopted “Sen. Houde Concurs with House Amendment 1567h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor.
