The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2012 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 31, 2012. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 8, 2012 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 8, 2012 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2012. The committee held a work session on April 3, 2012. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1256h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1256h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 25, 2012, changing the text of the bill. On April 25, 2012 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 9, 2012 the Senate adopted “Sen. Barnes Concurs with House Amendment 1256h” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 2012 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor.
